Maybelline Matte and Poreless Foundation Review

Hey Beauties!

The foundation kick continues… I only just got round to trying the Maybelline Matte and Poreless Foundation . I use to own the Fit Me Foundation a couple of years back and liked that foundation so I had hopes that this would be good too.

As per the website:

WHAT IT IS

Fit Me® Matte + Poreless Foundation face makeup. This lightweight foundation mattifies and refines pores and leaves a natural, seamless finish.

BENEFITS

Ideal for normal to oily skin, our exclusive matte foundation formula features micro-powders to control shine and blur pores. Pore minimizing foundation. Dermatologist tested. Allergy tested. Non-comedogenic.

HOW TO USE/APPLY

Apply foundation onto skin and blend with fingertips or an applicator.

My Experience:

The packaging comes in a plastic tube unlike a glass bottle which I’ve had previously with the Fit Me Foundation. This doesn’t bother me as the glass bottle does not contain a pump and squeezing this controls the amount of product I squeeze out. I purchased mine in the shade 220 Natural Beige. This shade suits my skin tone very well. With the Fit Me Foundation I noticed the coverage was quiet light and definitely not full coverage. For some reason I thought this would provide more coverage or more on the full side. It provided more of a light to medium coverage with one layer on my skin. With two layers it provided medium coverage. This appears satin on the skin after application but after about 2 minutes it settled matte. I had enough time to take my time and blend this foundation, add another layer before it dried down and settled. If you someone that takes your time blending a foundation this would be good thing. I have tried this with a brush and sponge. I do prefer blending foundations with a sponge but with a brush I got more coverage as the sponge sheer’s it out a bit.

I wore this foundation for the first time for a full working day and by the 10th hour my T-Zone got a little bit oily. I have more dry skin than oily skin but I did apply a very hydrating/ moisturising primer that day and sprayed my face with a dewy setting spray. The next day I wore this with a different primer and used the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray and by the end of the day my complexion looked better than the previous day. It did move around my nose and fade on my forehead though which I wasn’t really impressed about.

I have grown use to the full coverage, stay in place, locked and loaded type of foundation recently. The Fenty Foundation and Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation that I’ve loved lately are full coverage and very much locked into place for the entire day even though I have dry skin. This is very much different to those foundations at least on my skin. It performs very well for a day to day type of foundation with lighter coverage. I do however need to set this foundation in order to prolong the wear of this foundation but I don’t mind that. I wouldn’t grab this on a night out or an event; I would wear this as a day to day foundation.

There are the pressed powders sold along with this foundations but I cannot put down the Wet n Wild pressed powder so I decided to skip the powder. However, when the loose Fit Me powder hits stores I will definitely pick that up.

Contains 30ml/ 1 fl.oz. Can be purchased at Foschini or  Dischem for R92.95. Made in France. As per Maybelline’s website there have extended their shade range to now 40 shades in total (after Fenty all companies are doing it). Although there were only 5 shades in store when I purchased mine, thankfully this one matched well.

What are your thoughts on this foundation?

Thanks for stopping by:)

  1. This sounds like a good daily foundation. I’ve had to stop wearing long wearing (ie drying) foundations ever since the weather started getting cooler now – my skin gets too hydrated looking.
